    Wow, I’m surprised about the “album of the year”… I guess we didn’t listen to the same, guys…

    At least, a radical evolution for that band… It’s always nice to evolve, but in this case, it’s not my taste…

    This isn’t Baroness. If it is, this is their “Reload.” Radical change, yes … but definitely not for the better. I can imagine hearing this back-to-back with Chevelle and Nickelback and Avenged Sevenfold on the “modern rock” stations. Not a good thing.

    Don’t understand why people are comparing this to Nickelback. Any metal band that softens their sound a little bit seems to get bashed and compared to Nickelback. I don’t understand it. I do hear slight similarities to James Hetfield and maybe even some 90’s rock style vocals (Alice in Chains), but to compare that to Nickelback is just ridiculous. Listen to the instrumentation…it is top notch. Yes, they are no longer doing the sludge metal thing. They have moved on from that. I love the red album’s sound. I love the blue alum’s sound. And although much different, I love this new album’s sound. But stop with the Nickelback comparisons…that is just lazy.
    As for why I believe this is the album of the year so far….Baroness has given us a double album. However, it is more like 2 separate albums. Both have their own distinctive feel and both flow wonderfully. The songs are varied and the instrumentation is beautiful. If you take this album on its own, and stop comparing it to their others, you will appreciate it for what it is.
